12:45 Lingfield
There’s a quartet of course and distance winners set for the lineup in the opener at Lingfield and my selection is the current biggest priced one of the four. THE JEAN GENIE has had a very lacklustre turf campaign but eleven of her last twelve starts came in a higher grade than this. She now returns to the all-weather and to a course she has a solid record at. She’s just 1lb higher than her last winning mark, has a fair enough draw in stall 8 and with the addition of Harry Bentley booked to ride the six year old for the first time has another tick in the right box.
THE JEAN GENIE
14:15 Lingfield
Later on the card we see Lingfields big race of the day. A top class seven furlong handicap where, just like in the opener, I see myself side with another course and distance victor this time in the form of MAGICAL WISH. The four year old hasn’t been seen on an artificial surface since winning a similar contest here back in March. He’s gone up in rating and as such weight since then but with five runs on the all-weather yielding two wins and three seconds a return to Polytrack looks a positive step.
Of course the likes of Ghalyoon and Huraiz pose serious threats but the Richard Hannon horse looks way overpriced and can sneak a place. I just hope all eight line up.
