Course form around Chester is a huge tick in the box for any runner here and it’s safe to say that sprint veteran Sir Maximilian fits the bill. With four trips to the venue he’s claimed two course and distance victories and a place. He’s not been seen here since winning this race back in 2016 but now returns to a course he loves with a staggering 15lbs less weight to carry. With Jim Crowley also booked for the ride despite the horses unfavourable draw a chance is taken that he can overcome that obstacle and win on the Roodee once again.

Those with more advantageous draws such as A Momentofmadness and Reflektor deserve a tonne of respect and are rightly seen as the most likely contenders. Course and distance winner Reflektor hails from a yard who love bagging a winner at Chester and A Momentofmadness has been competing in tougher races of late however his inconsistency is somewhat off putting.
