The first of eight races from Wolverhampton’s early evening meeting is the scene of our selection. Jockey Edward Greatrex doesn’t get an abundance of rides but he’s bagged four victories in the past fortnight and this precocious talent could add to his tally. His ride, Dark Alliance, looked a tad unlucky last time out so a drop in class and a drop in weight will undoubtedly be beneficial. At the age of seven the horse seems to still retain a decent level of ability and has enough left in the tank to win this. Trainer Patrick Morris has his horses flying which makes The Hooded Claw worthy of note, El Torito looks as if a big run may be on the cards and former course and distance winner Grey Destiny shouldn’t be far away either. Never the less we side with the top weight to bring home the glory.
