16:15 Epsom

Our best bet of the day is likely to be a little shorter in the markets than I would ideally prefer, however given the manner of his two victories to date I think he will prove tough to beat. The horse in question is Willie John who beat seven subsequent winners when winning on debut at Yarmouth in October 2017, before switching to Roger Varian and stepping up from seven furlongs to ten, running at Doncaster earlier this month and powering clear to win by five lengths under a hands and heels ride from Andrea Atzeni. The forecast conditions are an unknown but if handling the softer ground then the hat-trick beckons.

Sovereign Debt was last seen winning at York in June but usually takes a race or two to hit top gear following a break and all career wins have come over shorter trips so the biggest danger looks to be Connect who has a course and distance victory to his name and has won three from seven, all on good-to-soft or soft ground, although was last of seven in a listed contest in France when last seen so needs to bounce back.
