RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (MONDAY)

14:50 Pontefract

People will think I’m going mad! I’m a loon and I’ve got a few screws loose but my selection today is currently priced at 16/1 in a seven runner race. Not only is it the second biggest priced horse odds wise but with only the seven runners I don’t even get three places.

None the less Mark Johnstone’s GOLD SOUK could do far better than the bookies anticipate. He’s been tried over 1m4f his last few starts and that really hasn’t suited so I reckon a drop in trip looks much more beneficial. Making his second start since his gelding op may see vast improvement and at the age of three I reckon there’s definite room to progress. Of course there’s horses who have shown much better form of late but I’ll take a chance on the Johnstone runner at a tasty price.

GOLD SOUK

16:30 Windsor

We end the afternoons selections by taking in an amateur riders race where former course and distance winner TIAR NA NOG looks ludicrously priced at around 22/1. Jump on him as soon as possible before that price dissapears. The eight your old showed an improved performance when fifth last time and already holds a handful of wins and places here at Windsor all with much more weight on his back. Trainer Denis Coakley is very very canny at placing his horses and has had two winners from his yard in just the last four horses he’s sent out.

Stable are in fine form, the horse loves it around here and is off a low handicap mark. We’d be ludicrous not to take a punt.
