RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (MONDAY)

14:50 Bath

The last time NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND came to Bath he claimed second over course and distance. It was on firm ground that day and that hard surface remains however this time around he’s got less weight to carry. With the young progeny Tom Marquand booked for the ride and trainer William Muir currently operating at a 25% strike rate things point to a good run and at 11/1 I’ll happily take some of that.

16:00 Hamilton

Seven year old DODGY BOB has claimed six career victories and three of them have all come here at Hamilton. He’s just one pound higher than his last winning mark and trainer Michael Mullineaux has had a winner recently. 12/1 looks a lovely price for a horse with decent form credentials in what looks a very open contest.

19:45 Newcastle

We head on over to Newcastle to take in the last two races. The penultimate race is a seven furlong handicap where I’m siding with a former course victor. MUATADEL produced a solid effort to finish third over course and distance last time out and with Paul Mulrennan now taking the ride he has another chance of going close once again.

MUATADEL

20:15 Newcastle

There’s four course and distance winners in this fourteen runner lineup and my selection lies within this quartet.

Even though he’s an eight year old STAR CRACKER showed he still has something left in the locker when finishing third at Ayr earlier in the season. With three course and distance wins to his name to date he clearly likes these conditions and now back to a winning mark, in fact a pound below his last winning rating, I have to think that the 20/1 currently on offer seems far too generous.
