RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (MONDAY)

14:40 Windsor A claiming race is hardly the creme de la creme of racing on offer at Windsor this afternoon but it’s where we feel we’ve spotted a likely winner. Trainer Richard Fahey is based in North Yorkshire so a trip all the way down to Windsor is a mammoth trek and one that wouldn’t be undertaken unless his runners had a decent chance of winning. I’m hoping he can bag victory with his old-timer Balesteros who’ll be ridden by top jockey Paul Hanagan. Despite his advancing years Ballesteros has been running very well this year and a drop down to this low grade of race is bound to aid his chances. The last time he raced over a straight six furlongs was a whopping 21 starts back where he won comfortably this time last year at Catterick. He’s not the horse he was in his prime but nevertheless he still looks capable of winning a race like this. Gilmer looks to have a solid chance after a decent win at Ayr earlier in the year and a return to that sort of form should see him in the frame and course and distance winner Morache Music can’t be discounted readily either. BALLESTEROS (WIN) – NAP

15:40 Windsor One of our NAP’s when narrowly beaten last time out Awesome Allan has a great chance of going one better at a course he’s been victorious before. Fellow course and distance victor John Joiner has a good chance especially with the more than capable Josephine Gordon booked for the ride. At a bigger price Mercers could go close as trainer Peter Crate loves a winner here at Windsor and a third placed effort on his last run looks more promising. AWESOME ALLAN (WIN)
