RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (MONDAY)

14:00 Pontefract

Round The Island was a Picks From The Paddock NAP when winning over course and distance last time out, striking the front in the final furlong and staying on strongly to win going away. He finished behind both Highly Sprung and The Amber Fort on penultimate run but ran very keen that day and was given a much more patient ride when winning last time out and I think similar, more patient tactics will be employed again today. The Richard Whitaker runner carries a 6lbs penalty for his recent success but both Highly Sprung and The Amber Fort, who look to be the biggest dangers in the seven-strong field, have both been hit with rises too so with the trainer continuing in excellent form at the course I’m hoping to see another victory for Round The Island and talented young jockey Lewis Edmunds.
