RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (MONDAY)

15:30 Leicester

Arthur Kitt is clear on official ratings and also gets weight from his elders so it is no surprise to see him at the head of the forecasted markets. He should find this easier that the Group races that he has been contesting, although his only career victories to date have come over much shorter trips, he didn’t seem to stay the trip in The Chester Vase last time out and his stable have been struggling for winners so he does come with risks attached.

With this in mind it looks a good opportunity for Bombyx to regain the winning thread. His two career victories include one here at Leicester and one over todays’ trip, the run over 12 furlongs being the best of his career. Trainer James Fanshawe has hit a purple patch in recent weeks and the booking of in-form jockey Oisin Murphy is also a positive. With stamina assured and a recent run under his belt he looks the one to follow.

BOMBYX (WIN)

21:05 Pontefract We have to wait until the last race of the evening to see our selection run but hopefully it’ll be worth the wait. Sheepscar Lad may have only finished 7th in his last run but that was relatively pleasing on the eye and was in a much better race than today’s. A course and distance winner who now returns to Class 5 company having tackled much better races for the past year or two. A drop in class, a drop in weight and sticking at a course he goes well at should be enough to see Nigel Tinkler’s sprinter finish with his head in front. Latham has been very consistent of late but seems to only find second place of late. It wouldn’t take too much more to win but this perhaps looks a more competitive race than he’s used to. The likes of Qaaraat and Socialites Red have enough in their lockers to finish in the mix and at a big price Suitcase N Taxi could be worth a shot for each way punters but Sheepscar Lad has the tools to claim a race of this nature and should duly oblige. SHEEPSCAR LAD (WIN)
