RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (FRIDAY)

17:00 DUNDALK

The opening contest from Dundalk sees a plethora of course and distance winners contest this five furlong sprint race.

Expect a big run from My Good Brother who returns to the scene of his previous success off a lower weight but sadly it may be the draw that effects the nine year olds chances of winning.

Top weight Flawlessly was only given a three pound rise in weight for winning here last time which seems mightily kind so a repeat performance isn’t too far fetched but as with My Good Brother a less than advantageous draw might be this ones undoing.

The biggest danger looks to be Chicago School who dropped back down to five furlongs last time and seemed to relish the shorter trip. A repeat of that performance will put the Anthony McCann trained runner firmly in the mix and should be near the head of affairs come the end. That being said however I just can’t look past Danz Gift. A prolific winner here with three course and distance wins and three placed efforts. Although he’s aged seven he still retains a decent level of ability and as he continues to drop in class and weight his chances improve. The booking of top jockey Wayne Lordan is eye catching and trainer Sheila Lavery is on fire with a 50% strike rate. He’s opened up with a price of 9/1 but no doubt that generosity will be swallowed up by punters. Get on fast and see this one return to winning ways.
