Meshardal has been fairly disappointing since the turn of the year but he hinted at a return to something like his best when finishing a fair fourth here last month. The form of that race has since been franked by the runner up Muscika, whom bolted up at Ayr earlier in the week. Down in grade today and now 4lbs below his last winning mark it would be disappointing if the Ruth Carr trained eight year old failed to play a part. As such he is taken to regain winning ways and record a ninth turf victory.
Presidential has been in great form of late and followed up wins at Doncaster and Carlisle with a fine second at Beverley last time over seven furlongs, this drop back to a sprint trip has to be seen as a positive and he may well be the chief danger.
