A very competitive nursery here where it’s difficult to identify which horse will go off as favourite. That said however, I think the horse I fancy may go off as third or fourth best in the market and that’s Queens Heir. A £25,000 Footstepsinthesandpurchase as a yearling Queens Heir has improved with every one of her three runs for Kevin Ryan and has now switched to the Michael Dods stable. This is her first run in a Nursery, but she looks to have been given a fair mark. She was made favourite on her debut back in May but could only finish seventh of nine. She was an 18/1 shot for her second race and improved on her debut form to finish 4th over Pontefract’s stiff six furlongs. On her last run she stepped up to todays seven-furlong trip and although very weak in the market she improved again and was keeping on at the finish when finishing third. She was still a little green that day and can improve again today and I think even a small amount of improvement from her last run puts her in with a big chance here.
Of the rest Hollow Steel will be popular as she goes for a hat trick of wins, she won a seller at Ripon before landing a Nursery at Thirsk beating Bonita Bay by a length. She is up five pounds for that win and four pounds worse off with Bonita Bay for a length beating. Bonita Bay has since run well at Newmarket and is very much respected under Tom Marquand.
Another with a chance here is Gallileo Glass who took a few runs to get the hang of racing but was an impressive winner of a six-furlong 15 runner Nursery at Doncaster last time. The step up to seven furlongs looks like it will suit him, but he is up seven pounds for that win and although he should improve, he would need to.
Hollow Steel is one I do not fancy at all on this card and would not expect her to confirm placings with Bonita Bay on Haydock form.
Gallileo Glass is a danger and was close to being the selection here, but I will go with Queens Heir who has improved with every run I feel her last run is amongst the best performances in this field and she can improve again to land this.
