PUNTERS SET TO PURR WITH THE CAPTAIN

14:40 Market Rasen

16 head to post for the Betway Summer Plate Handicap Chase (Grade 3) over 2m5f where the ground is currently Good.

Captain Tom Cat (5/1) heads the market for the Dr Richard Newland & Sam Twiston-Davies partnership as he bids to land the 4 timer over fences. He's been in phenomenal form since being switched to fences and is currently unbeaten over the bigger obstacles. He has a combined winning distance of 53 lengths in his 3 chasing wins. He's been put up only 3lbs following his 29 length win last time out and he's a serious contender in this field. He loves to lead, set the pace and tell others "catch me if you can". If he's able to dictate the tempo of this race, I think he could win this impressively.

Pink Eyed Pedro is another interesting angle on this race. He likes to sit in just behind the leader and dry conditions will suit. He's a consistent performer on Good ground and his performance behind Livelovelaugh on Grand National weekend was impressive. He was well supported next time out at Newton Abbot where he looked really strong coming to the climax of the race but unfortunately he unseated Jack Tudor 2 out. An interesting angle at 16/1.

Captain Tom Cat will love the challenge here in his first proper contest over fences. I think there's still improvement in his mark and 5/1 could be a muggy each way angle for some, but I'm on the win.
