PERCY TO POUNCE ON GRADE 1 SUCCESS

14:25 Leopardstown

The Savills Chase is arguably the highlight of the Irish festive period and acts a possible guide to the outcome of March's Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Plenty of the horses set to lineup have strong chances, more notably the likely favourite Minella Indo. He hasn’t done anything wrong so far this season on his path to the Gold Cup and deserves his place at the head of the market but there may be a bit of a sleeper in the mist.

A somewhat rejuvenated horse on stable debut for Gordon Elliott, PRESENTING PERCY won very easily at Down Royal last time out. The race should be run to suit with a decent sized field and some pace assured, jockey Denis O’Regan can take his time and deliver the nine year old late in the day to hopefully produce a winning challenge.
