PADDOCKS PATENT (WEDNESDAY)

14:55 Chelmsford City Typically for this time of year Mark Johnston has his yard in good order, Watersmeet is his representative here and he can further improve his handlers recent hot streak. A decent forth when last seen, he had previously left a good impression when making all at Haydock. With only five rivals to see off today, Joe Fanning may be able to poach a sufficient lead and he is handed the vote. The Third Man has some decent form for this sort of grade and may have further improvement in the locker, his price if off putting however, and whilst respected, he has to be taken on at short odds. Glasgow Central was heavily backed here last time and was only collared late on, having attempted to make all. The Johnston challenger is unlikely to afford him an easy lead today but a market inspection is advised all the same. Watersmeet (WIN)

17:10 Chelmsford City Hayley Turner gave City Of Angkor Wat a cracking ride when stealing a race at Kempton last time, the horse is three from five since joining the Core stable and a big run cannot be dismissed. Kung Hei Fat Choy is exposed but could have this run to suit, his yards recent form is another positive and his chance shouldn’t be written off. Mansuri has a sprinting pedigree but belied that when powering home over seven furlongs at Dundalk last time out, he’s since changed hands for 32.000 guineas and could be the dark horse. Ruban finally came good here last time and did so in taking fashion, the five pounds penalty makes life tougher but he has a capable claimer on board and is handed the vote to double up. Ruban (WIN)

21:15 Kempton Our final selection of the day comes in the final race at Kempton and is something of a retrieval mission, Catalinas Diamond is the horse in question having narrowly failed to go in for us the last day. Her wide draw slightly tampers enthusiasm but Adam Kirby has kept the faith and unlike most of these, she arrives here in decent heart. Pat Murphy’s mare will have to find the gaps but trading at an each way price, she is taken to finally take advantage of her lowly mark. Indian Affair deserves the chief danger tag and will surely pick up one of these before long, with just two wins from forty nine however, it would be risky going in at short odds. Waabel comes from a yard noted for gambles so a market check is advisable whilst Welsh Inlet is weighted to win and is another to respect. Catalinas Diamond (E/W if 5/1+)
