PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY) – In Association With The Value Rater

16:45 Goodwood We head over to Goodwood for the first selection of our trio of tips today. The current market leader is the Paul Cole trained Upstaging who finished a respectable fourth last time out but if truth be told that form doesn’t read all that well and i think it’ll be worth taking on the favourite in this. Yeeoow returns to Goodwood where it finished sixth of twenty in the Stewards Sprint which reads like decent form. The horse hasn’t been seen at Goodwood since but I don’t think there’d be many concerns about the horses ability to act on todays conditions and is taken to overhaul the favourite. Divine Call might be a veteran at the age of nine and has shown little to no form so far this season however the horse is unbeaten here at Goodwood and could do much better than its price suggests. Yeeoow (WIN)

17:40 Hamilton When it comes to amateur riders races by far the best jockey to be on has to be Serena Brotherton. Her record is fantastic and she jumps on board David Barron’s Napoleon Solo. The horse is a maiden but is found an easier assignment to finally get his head in front. This is the four year olds first run for Barron who I’m sure could bring about some improvement. Pushkin Museum and Slim Chance look the likely threats to our selection with any horse hailing from Richard Fahey’s yard obviously demanding respect and Slim Chance’s previous course and distance win indicating that todays conditions will suit. Napoleon Solo (WIN)

18:45 Ripon Our third and final selection of the day sees us take a trip to Yorkshire for a five furlong sprint from Ripon. I’m siding with the top weight in this in the form of course winner Pipers Note. Richard Whitaker’s charge put in a good performance when finishing fourth of twenty here in a big handicap last time out. The horse remains on the same handicap mark but drops down to the minimum trip. I’m not certain that the drop to five furlongs is going to suite but a chance is taken with a horse who’s course form reads very well. The current market favourite is the oldest horse in the race. Silvanus has course and distance winning form with two wins out of five starts at Ripon. The horse won a similar contest here in August last year off a nine pound higher mark. If the horse retains some ability it’s bound to have a shot but at 7/2 I couldn’t back the horse as a guaranteed winner. Of the remaining runners Tim Easterby’s Excessable has a 100% strike rate here at Ripon and as a three year old has room to progress. A horse that could easily take a hand in this for place money. Pipers Note (E/W if 9/2+)
