PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

12:40 Southwell

We start our day’s previews with a one mile handicap. Jo Hughes quickly returns City Of Angkor Wat back to the track after finishing second 4 days ago; he was finishing well and was unlucky not to catch the winner in the final strides of that race, he should be able to run his race again today.

The biggest danger looks to be from Miami Gator; he was in fine form at the end of last year and the beginning of this year but didn’t seem to show up when racing on this track last time out; he was coming back from a break after 9 months off that day and may of just needed that race to get race fit once again; he looks at a very tempting price and may be the one to take on again in what looks an easier race.

Red Invader comes here after a win on the turf over five furlongs and even though he has some previous form over this surface he looks slightly high in the weights.

15:10 Southwell

We stay at Southwell with a twelve furlong handicap. Michael Appleby won this race last year and brings Luv U Whatever for this today; he doesn’t come here with the most impressive form but he’s been competing in much higher company than this all year and has dropped to a very low mark for this; he seems to save his best for this track and dropping back to this grade should be the answer.

Street Artist was a surprise winner at 16/1 last time out, he won that race with a lot in hand and it will be no surprise to see him go off as favourite today, he should be there or thereabouts again today but may just struggle with the six pound raise in the weights.

Reach The Beach benefited from a drop in the weights to win over course and distance 12 days ago but he is another who has been raised six pounds for this and may find a couple of these too much for him today.

Luv U Whatever (WIN)

15:50 Southwell

We complete our day’s previews with the last race from Southwell a Six furlong handicap. Fathom Five won this event last year and even though he is now ten he has since gone on four times to produce a win percentage of 20% but this looks his toughest race since winning here last year and his age may finally catch up with him.

A few of these have won over course and distance in the past and the best two look to be Music Molly and Best Tamayuz, the latter is seeking a hat-trick today but has been raised nine pounds from his previous course and distance win, the former was a beaten favourite over course and distance last time out and even though she can run off the same mark again today she still may find one too good again.

The danger and my selection is Lucky Mark; he was beaten by Best Tamayuz here last week but returns here today a lot better in the weights and is easily worth taking a chance on today.

Lucky Mark (E/W)
