PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

14:00 Sedgefield We start our day’s previews with a seventeen furlong handicap hurdle. Nautical Twilight and Pertuis have both been knocking on the door as of late and both have found one too good on their previous two runs. The former has been raised six pounds for his latest second but should still be able to be in the mix in the final stages today. The latter and my selection has been competing in much better company than this recently and has escaped a penalty for his latest second at Wetherby, the drop in class should suit and return him to winning ways, The top weight Benzanno has tumbled down the weights recently and was beaten by twenty one lengths back in March over course and distance, this looks tougher race but can’t be ruled out if fully wound up. Pertuis (E/W if 5/1+)

14:50 Southwell Our second race is another handicap hurdle at Southwell. Jigsaw Financial will almost be heavily backed in the market with the champion jockey A P McCoy on board; she won over course and distance back in October from a ten pound lower weight, and may now be in the handicappers grip and she won’t appreciate any rain if it comes during the morning. Amazing Scenes hasn’t raced since April and usually needs a couple of races before coming good; so he may just need this today. The biggest danger and my selection is Landerbee; he has made a promising start to this year’s campaign but didn’t do himself any favours with his jumping when seen here last time out; he did though look very interesting between the jumps and showed a lot of pace and if he can sort his jumping out today there should be a great chance he can land this. Landerbee (E/W if 5/1+)

15:40 Wolverhampton Our final race comes on the all-weather with a thirteen furlong handicap. Sioux Chieftain looks to be the early favourite here but he was a beaten favourite last time out at this track and has since gone up the weights again without winning, even though he has placed four times in his last four races he may find a couple of these too good again today. The danger looks to come from my selection Duchess Of Gazeley; she is dropping down a grade for this and has also been given a chance by the handicapper, she would of needed her latest run at Newmarket to blow away the cobwebs and looks on a very good mark today to take this. Sagesse is another with place claims; she finished third over course and distance back in March off of this weight and should be thereabouts again today. Duchess Of Gazeley (WIN)
