13:15 Southwell We start our day’s previews with a seven furlong handicap on the fibresand. Queen Of Skies won her latest race over a mile here and the shorter trip today shouldn’t be a problem for her as she pulled away from the field early and only seemed to get tired in the last furlong but stayed on well to win, she looks the obvious favourite here but at such a short price already it may be worth looking elsewhere for better value. Amenable and Pat’s Legacy are dangerous but the latter seems to like further then this and may find a few of these too quick today. My selection Novalist won twice over course and distance in December and may of founder the longer trip last time out not to his liking, he usually likes to lead from the front and with blinkers fitted again for this today it may be just what is needed for him to get back to winning ways. Novalist (E/W)
14:50 Southwell We stay at Southwell for our second preview a maiden fillies’ stakes race over six furlongs. I usually keep away from maidens as anything can happen and I’m thinking that could be the case today. Marilyn Moon and Jaiyana have both had fair starts to their racing careers with both getting into the mix over this distance in the final stages, they take to this track like most here for the first time today and should go well if they continue to improve. Seychelloise is the only one who has previous course and distance form and has placed twice here including her latest outing three weeks ago, Sir Mark Prescott’s yard is in very good form at the moment and she could be the one to beat. My selection Thunderbird is having her first race to date; she is related to three winners on the fibresand and is also from a yard that is in decent form this season and she could be the surprise we sometimes get from these maiden races. Thunderbird (E/W)
15:15 Fakenham We end the day with the penultimate race at Fakenham a two mile seven furlong handicap hurdle. Vision Du Coeur won for the first time in fifteen starts by eight lengths over course and distance on New Year’s Day; he’s been raised eight pounds for that win and even though the ground will suit the rise in weights may not and it may be worth looking elsewhere. Oliver’s Hill is one to note he fell when last seen here and was also pulled up on the run before that but did show a lot of promise last year; if he can shake off them last two races and is back at his best he will be a real danger here today and is probably worth some each way money at his current price of 10/1. Imperial Vic returns back to hurdles after a spell chasing and looks to be on a very lenient mark; he seems a very versatile horse and whatever the ground seems to be he can adapt to it very easily and with proven form over this distance he looks the one to beat and is my selection for this today. Imperial Vic (E/W if 5/1+)
