PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

13:35 Fakenham Dawnieriver has won her last 3 and jumped impressively last time out. She was left clear when the main challenger fell a couple from home but was still travelling strongly and all others were either hard ridden, pulled up or had fallen so a 7lbs rise may not be enough to stop her from continuing her winning streak, although is now 15lbs higher than when her winning run began. Queen Spud is yet to win over todays’ trip but was a ready winner over 2m 5f last time out and always seems to save her best performances for Fakenham, having won on all three previous visits. A 7lbs rise takes her to a career high mark and all career wins have come on good ground but nevertheless she needs considering in what could become a tactical affair. Trainer N Mulholland has had seven winners from sixteen runners here at Fakenham in the last twelve months and his runner Shaky Gift adds further intrigue to this race as she is also unbeaten at Fakenham having won twice over hurdles, over 2m 7f on both occasions. She hasn’t shown too much over fences as yet but has N Fehily in the saddle who boasts a 46% winning strike rate here at Fakenham and has been in great form in recent weeks. Shaky Gift (WIN)

13:45 Southwell Riddlestown has a great record at the course having won four times over course and distance, although has never won off a mark this high and usually takes a couple of runs to get up to full race fitness. Aliandy hasn’t been seen since New Years Day and is yet to record a career victory but has placed in three from four over hurdles including a solid third behind Yanworth and Le Prezien at Warwick twelve months ago. If fully fit on return he looks likely to be in the mix. Definitly Grey was a course and distance winner on penultimate run and only just failed to follow up over an extra three furlongs last time out. He’s up another 2lbs but won’t mind the drop back down to two and a half miles and looks to be progressing nicely since the fitting of a tongue-tie. The price doesn’t look amazing considering the field size but in truth most rivals arrive here without any decent form to speak of. Definitly Grey (WIN)

14:45 Southwell Cajun Fiddle was only 7 lengths behind La Bague Au Roi when second on hurdling debut and the winner put in another commanding performance to win again next time out. Trainer A King has a decent record here at Southwell and Cajun Fiddle is his only runner on the card so the Robin Des Champs mare is sure to be popular despite the short odds. However i’m looking to take her on with the more experienced Katie Gale who has won two from six over hurdles with both victories coming over course and distance. Trainer M Appleby doesn’t have too many runners in this sphere but has booked Jamie Moore for the ride and they have teamed up with 3 winners from eight over the last twelve months. Nampararoo has her first run in over a year and takes on hurdles for the first time while My Cousin Rachel showed little in bumpers and also has her first run over hurdles, so Oliver Sherwood’s Versifier looks to be the most likely of the remainder to get involved. The trainer has had six runners over hurdles in the last couple of weeks with half of them making the frame and his four year old has improved for each run so far. Katie Gale (WIN)
