14:30 Exeter
We start our day’s previews in the South West with a two mile and seven furlong handicap hurdle.
Free Of Charge looks an early favourite in the market having won over course and distance last time out by three quarters of a length; he now has to deal with a seven pound penalty off the back of that win and that might be his undoing today even though this looks slightly lesser company.
Bridal Suite is technically running off the same mark as he did when winning at Fontwell back in March as his jockey today has a ten pound claim but he looks suited to further than this and may find a couple with more pace in the final stages.
Storm Alert won over course and distance back in February last year and has plummeted down the weights in recent months’ he’s now thirteen pounds lower than that win and looks to have solid each-way claims from this mark.
The one that stands out to me is the Nigal Twiston-Davies horse Triumph Davis; she’s not really shown much since starting her handicapping career but she would have been well schooled by the trainer these last two months and she has every chance off this low mark to get her head in front today.
Triumph Davis (E/W if 5/1+)
15:55 Kempton Park
We go to the polytrack for our second preview of the day which looks a very wide open one mile handicap.
Quadriga comes here seeking a hat trick after two good wins at Southwell but this isn’t that type of surface and with a huge penalty to deal with he may find this beyond him today.
Elusive Ellen could be a real danger if taking the step up in trip after winning here last month by a head and only has a small penalty this time out.
Two Minds has to go on the short list; he’s a very lightly race eight year old and has proven before he can win from a long time away from the track and with a 66% strike rate around here he is dismissed at your peril.
Embankment is another who catches the eye; he may have not won since 2012 but he’s been competing in a lot better company than most of these for some time now and is four pounds lower when finishing second over course and distance back in March and gets my vote for this today.
Embankment (E/W)
20:05 Wolverhampton
We wait a while for our final preview at Wolverhampton for a five furlong handicap.
Luke Morris won this race last year and looks to repeat that again today on Toni’s A Star but she’s currently six pounds higher from her last win over course and distance back in February and maybe in the handicappers grip.
Red Flute beat Frank The Barber by over a length back in March and the latter now returns here on better terms and may be able to reverse that running here today.
Margot Rose finished third behind Red Flute and Frank The Barber on that occasion but is another who opposes on better terms especially as she seems to save her best for this track and with none of the others looking much of a threat she has every opportunity to land this today.
Margot Rose (E/W) If 4/1+
