We start today’s previews with what looks a very interesting ten furlong handicap.
Qasser is the early favourite in the market after three good runs on the all-weather but he is seven pounds higher from his last win and may find some of these a bit too quick around here today.
Richard Hughes saddles Gran Maestro for this after a very good spell over the jumps recently; he is only three pounds higher from his last win on the flat this time last year and has to be a real threat.
Smoker is an interesting one; he done really well last year over in Ireland and seems on a very low mark to date now in England and if he can bring the form he showed back in Ireland he should have big E/W claims.
Atlantic Affair is the one that really stands out to me; he tried stepping up in class last time out after a very good second at Musselburgh but was a little out his depth on that occasion; he should appreciate the cut in the ground today and is another with a good chance.

Tim Easterby and Alan Swinbank have both won this race twice in the past but the latter’s horse Kinema looks the most likely to go close today; he may be eight pounds higher than his last win but he seems to make his presence felt in all his races and can’t be ignored.
Taghreeb steps up to this trip for the first time which looks to suit after staying on well to win both his races to date and will probably be well backed in tomorrow.
Rembrandt Van Rijn has been in amazing form on the all-weather over the last nine months and looks very dangerous for this today and at such a low mark back on turf he could take all the beating in this.
Final Countdown comes here seeking a hat-trick after two good wins at Haydock and Pontefract and should go well again today but the five pound rise may just seem him pushed back into the places.

We stay at Newcastle for our final preview a seven furlong handicap.
George Cinq has been knocking on the door on his last three outings and can race off the same mark as he did when finishing second over this trip at Doncaster eight days ago and has every chance to win this.
Obsidian is two pounds lower from his win over further ten days ago where he pounced on the leaders in the final furlong to notch up his first win; he has every chance of repeating that again today.
Flyman drops back to this level since this time last year and is currently only two pounds higher than his win at this level but that was over six furlongs; he’s only just joined David O’Meara’s yard and the trainer must believe he’ll be successful over this trip today.
Sir Robert Cheval can never be ruled out at this level and will probably be another to make his presence felt and should be able to grab a place.
