15:25 Ripon
We start our day’s previews with a Class 4 handicap over nine furlongs.
Ventura Quest seems to be the early favourite in the market which is a surprise in my eyes as he’s not won since 2013 and hasn’t really shown any confidence recently that he can win this today even though he is back down to a winning mark.
Hydrant completed a hat-trick last month and has a huge penalty to deal with stepping up in grade today but he should still be able to make his presence felt.
Memory Cloth completed a hat-trick around this time last year and is another being helped by the handicapper bringing him back down to a winning mark.
My selection Ty Gwr has been very frustrating this year but he’s been competing in a lot better company than this since his last win at this level; he is only two pounds higher than that run today and can finally get back on track.

We stay at Ripon for our second preview of the day this time it’s a Class 3 handicap over a mile.
Ruff Car has won this card three times in the past and brings back the 2011 winner Dubai Dynamo; he previously won over course and distance again last month showing there’s still life in the 10 year old, he’s up five pounds from that win and is dismissed at your peril.
Birdman comes here seeking a four timer after completing a hat-trick last month but has another six pound penalty to deal with and that may just be too much for him today in addition of the step up in grade.
The top weight Off Art looks a very interesting runner here today; he wasn’t disgraced at York last time out and the step down to this grade off the same mark ticks all the right boxes.
Half A Sixpence is another stepping down in grade for this and is only two pounds higher than he last win at this level on the all-weather back in February.

We go to the all-weather track for our final preview of the day a twelve furlong handicap.
50% of these horses have won over course and distance this year but all have struggled with their current penalties.
My Anchor is probably weighted best of all receiving five pounds from his jockeys claim brining him two pounds lower that his last win over course and distance which should make him the one to beat for this.
Surround Sound is upped ten pounds for his last win but he could be a real danger if back to past form.
Oly’roccs seems to love it around here and is another that could be a threat but he struggled off this mark last time out and may just do again today.
None of the others look anything special at this time so it may be worth sticking with My Anchor today.
My Anchor (WIN)
