PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

Catterick 12:20 Nine year old Danceintothelight has made the frame in 50% of his ten runs over course and distance and won this race last year. He is 7lbs higher here but still 2lbs less than his last winning mark, is re-united with jockey A McCain for todays’ race and has a great overall record here at Catterick. Furthermore, trainer D McCain has a 30% winning strike rate over hurdles in the last two weeks and a level stakes profit record of +£21.88 to a £1 stake over the last twelve months at Catterick so a big run looks assured. Donna’s Pride hasn’t won in almost two years but her last victory came over course and distance in a class 4 handicap off a mark of 106. Today she races in a class 5 off a mark of 96 and has been holding her form well enough having placed three times in her last five races. Trainer K Reveley has won four from thirteen in the last three years over hurdles at Catterick so his mount cannot be dismissed, although recent from is a little off-putting. Cape Hideaway was in with a decent chance of recording his first victory over hurdles last time out, over course and distance, before falling two from home. Providing that hasn’t dented the confidence too much he looks to be a live danger. Danceintothelight (WIN)

Southwell 12:30 Clubland has won five from sixteen at Southwell with three from five coming over course and distance. His first three races for new trainer G Moss have seen him go close on all three occasions, all at Newcastle, and he returns to Southwell 12lbs lower than his last winning mark. If running anywhere near his best, back at his favoured track, he is the one to beat here. Boots And Spurs has won twice from four attempts here at Southwell however drops back to six furlongs for the first time in over three years. The 7lbs jockey Natalie Hambling claims looks to give him a chance at the weights, however her form of no wins in eight at the course coupled with the drop in trip is enough to put me off. Of the remainder, Vroom was a ready winner over course and distance last time out but shoulders a penalty in a tougher race here, while Bring On A Spinner has won two from two at the course but both came over the minimum trip and has been well beaten over six furlongs on both previous attempts. Clubland (WIN)

Wincanton 14:10 Fergal O’Brien and Paddy Brennan have really struck up a fantastic partnership, posting a winning strike rate of almost 28% and level stakes profit of £123 over the last twelve months. They partner up again here with Barney Dwan who will probably go off at a short enough price but was in the process of running a huge race and giving a beating to Potters Legend before getting the final fence all wrong and ending up stopping dead before somehow carrying on to finish second. Potters Legend has won again since so the form looks decent and a similar run should see him right there at the business end today. Colin Tizzard is another trainer with a decent record at Wincanton so his runner Robinsfirth needs to be considered despite an almost two year absence. A winner in a bumper here at Wincanton on debut and with two wins from five career runs he obviously has ability and could be underestimated on chase debut. Sir Ivan and Connetable also make their chase debuts for in-form stables while Wishing And Hoping was only beaten a length by Value At Risk on penultimate run although was a faller last time out. All three come with risks but all have the ability to get involved if they handle the fences. Barney Dwan (WIN)
