PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

16:45 Catterick

We start our day’s previews with a handicap over five furlongs.

Solar Spirit has only won twice in the past two years and both have been on this very card; he is two pounds lower than his last win around here but age seems to be catching up with the ten year old nethertheless he has to be respected.

Both Koptoon and Alaskan Wing both failed to complete their hat-trick last time out but the former did so in much higher company than this and looks a very high price not to give him a second look.

Tavener stayed on gamely to win at Thirsk at the beginning of June and even though he steps up in class today with a small penalty he could still have more to come.

Asha’s third at Thirsk eleven day’s ago probably doesn’t give justice in the race she produced that day and it’s that reason i’m torn between her and Koptoon

Koptoon  (E/W)

17:15 Catterick

We stay at Catterick for our second preview with what looks a very wide open handicap over seven furlongs.

Euxton looks the early favourite in the field but she steps up to this distance for the very first time and even though she looked like she needed the extra furlong to catch the first two last time out she’s still an unknown quantity.

Make On Madam was only a length behind when finishing fourth at Beverley in a much higher grade than this two weeks ago could be the one to take a chance on especially  as she also takes a slight drop in the weights.

Dad’s Girl was beaten by the 66/1 Sekuras Girl at Beverley last time out but the former could easily reverse that form today as the latter has a penalty to negotiate.

Signorina Roseina still looks high enough in the weights not to cause any problems here today  for my selection but may be worth keeping an eye on if the handicapper starts giving her a break.

Make On Madam  (E/W if 9/2+)

17:45 Catterick

We end today’s previews with the lady race at Catterick a seven furlong handicap.

Let’s Twist makes his handicap debut in what looks a suitable test; he won comfortably over course and distance three weeks ago but nothings come out of that race to determine if that was a good win or not.

War Paint had a couple of these behind when finishing fifth 3 weeks ago and will probably relish the drop back in trip as he seemed to tire in the last furlong last time out.

Mrs Biggs has every opportunity to go close here as she’s come close of higher marks than this this year and should be able to make her presence more felt in this type of company.

Red Unico is another who should relish the drop back in trip too but he’s still yet to put a win under his belt but could be a good shot at an each way bet.

Mrs Biggs  (E/W if 9/2+)
