PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

13:40 Lingfield We kick off Tuesday’s action with a competitive looking Novice Hurdle event. The market principles look set to be David Pipe’s Poisoned Berry, who looks to build upon a win at Exeter last time out, and Kim Bailey’s Champagne To Go who’s ridden by Tom Scudamore. The Pipe runner did well to claim success last time out but with a penalty this time around it may be too much of a burden. Champagne To Go is the horse I fear the most and if she can f in ally translate her bumper form to obstacles will go close today. The horse I’m siding with is the lightly raced Kristal Hart who did well on her hurdles debut to finish fifth. There’s no doubt she’ll improve a lot for that run and the booking of Noel Fehily is eye catching so at an each way price looks the one to be with. Kristal Hart (E/W if 9/2+)

15:00 Southwell We make a trip up to Southwell for another selection where once again I side with a Neill Mullholland trained runner. Champion jockey Richard Johnson only has a handful of rides this afternoon and the fact he gets the leg up on this favourite has to be worth noting. Mrs Burbidge finished 2nd at Wolverhampton in October and no doubt will strip fitter for that spin on the all-weather. She’s pretty consistent and hopefully with a top jockey onboard and tackling Southwell for the first time it can bring about the improvement needed for her to find the winners enclosure. Of the rest Profoundly could go close after a second placed finish here last time out but as a maiden after twenty one runs it’s difficult to be confident of success. The horse that looks to go well at a much bigger price is the course and distance winner Polarbrook. Two disappointing efforts recently need to be drastically forgotten and a return to the same handicap mark he was on when claiming victory here is a positive sign. His current double figure price could look very big come the off. Mrs Burbidge (WIN)

15:10 Lingfield There’s not much time between our second and third selections so make sure you don’t miss out on Cody Wyoming who looks to claim another course success here at Lingfield. The ten year old has won and placed in just two efforts at Lingfield and clearly likes conditions. Jockey Darryl Jacob is in blistering form with a near 30% strike rate in the past fortnight. At the age of ten his best days might be behind him but he won’t need to be something special to claim a hand in this. Unlike my other two selections I’ve sided against Neil Mullholland’s runner Si C’Etait Vrai who went off heavily fancied for a race at Newcastle when unseating their rider early on. Clearly connections think highly of the horse but consistency isn’t it’s strong point and I couldn’t side with a favourite who’s eso in and out of form. Unlike the favourite As De Fer is the model of consistency and rarely runs a bad race. He’s been off the course for a while but can go well fresh. The soft conditions should play into his hands and looks set to push our selection all the way. Cody Wyoming (E/W if 9/2+)
