PADDOCKS PATENT (THURSDAY)

15:10 Newmarket Fly At Dawn made his debut here earlier in the summer and won with the minimum of fuss when beating the likes of Harbour Master and Stanhope. The form was boosted by the runner up winning twice subsequently and the selection has also won again since. He was last seen out at Kempton Park when beaten two lengths by Sir Dancealot. The return to turf should prove to be in his favour and a return to this track in particular is likely to add to his chances this afternoon. Red Ensign had looked progressive prior to getting stuck in the mud at Haydock last time. This sounder surface ought to bring him right back into the mix and it is far too soon to be writing him off especially with Simon Crisford’s yard in such blistering form. Andrea Atzeni rides again and the combination have to be feared. This is the toughest opposition that Haulani has faced but he deserves a rise in class following two decent wins at Brighton and Salisbury. He too is on an upward curve and is likely to have a say in the finish here. Fly At Dawn represents a yard with seemingly unlimited firepower at this level and they also have a twenty-five percent strike rate at this track boasting healthy profits. With the yard back amongst the winners of late, this three year old is likely to make his presence known. Fly At Dawn (WIN)

16:15 Newmarket Sir Fever was an absolute powerhouse in his native Uruguay winning four races on the bounce. He then made the switch to Godolphin and ran two races out in Dubai. The first of those came in a similar contest and he was far from disgraced when beaten just over a length. He was sent out again just three weeks later and was upped into Group 2 company. He disappointed when finishing sixth, but he has not been seen since. Charlie Appleby clearly thinks he still has an engine and in what is his UK debut this afternoon,  he remains one of the least exposed runners in this field. Many of these rivals have endured a long hard season and that may well work in his favour. She Is No Lady was punted as though defeat was out of the question in the Ebor at York last time. She could muster no better than fourteenth place when beaten almost 20 lengths by Heartbreak City. This smaller field will see her in a much better light as will the return to this trip and she can feature prominently. Any rain would increase her chances further and she has to be feared. Seamour has the beating of She Is No Lady and ran well in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle earlier in the summer. Brian Ellison has enjoyed a successful season and another decent display can be expected from this five year old gelding. William Buick comes in for the ride on the local Godolphin runner and following a year and a half off the track they should be fit and raring to go. The yard seem to have turned a corner in recent days and a decent showing is likely especially with a marked step up in trip. Sir Fever (E/W if 9/2+)

16:50 Newmarket Higher Power looks a progressive sort and just the type that James Fanshawe does well with. He shrugged off his maiden tag at Kempton last time when landing a decent race beating the likes of Life Less Ordinary and Demonstration. That will have done his confidence the world of good and it wouldn’t be the biggest of shocks if he were to continue on an upward curve. With only half a dozen runs under his belt he is still open to further improvement and he looks sure to go well today. Appeared looked to be a horse to follow earlier in the season having won on the Knavesmire. He returned there just ten days later where he flopped badly. He has been given a three month break in order to get over those exertions and if returning to his early season form, he would prove a massive threat. Alan King has managed to keep William Hunter in good shape and the four year old has recorded three wins from his last four starts. He is as versatile as they come and he too looks sure to be in the shake up. Tom Queally knows his mount inside out and has partnered him on the last five occasions so they have to command the utmost of respect. The yard continues to be in fine form and another bold bid is expected. Higher Power (E/W if 9/2+)
