He loves it when the mud us flying and the soft ground on offer today should see him run yet another solid race. The McCain team have really hit the ground running this season and Will Kennedy notched up a double for the yard at this track just last week when securing victories for both Bourne and Derintopher Yank. Unlike many of today’s rivals, Up And Go comes here fully race fit and has to be high on any shortlist this afternoon. Cruachan is likely to be a lot a lot sharper this afternoon having defied a four month layoff off to finish a respectable third at Perth last time. Adam Nicol keeps the ride on Lucy Normile’s seven year old and the duo look a potential threat to the selection . Chavoy is another mudlark and he makes his seasonal reappearance this afternoon. He went off the boil somewhat last year and Rebecca Menzies will be hoping that he is back on an even keel. Up And Go (WIN)

15:55 Carlisle What’s Up Woody has proved a revelation this year for the Bewley family. Back to back wins at Perth followed by a gallant effort at Hexham last time means that he arrives here in the form of his life. He is an eight time winner at distances ranging from 2m 4f to 3m 1f and whilst this is a little further, he has been placed at this trip on multiple occasions. He is versatile regarding ground conditions and unlike a few of today’s rivals he is fit and certainly knows where the winner’s enclosure is. Benzel unseated his rider three weeks ago when getting no further than the first fence at Warwick.Despite being an eight year old, he is one of the most inexperienced runners in the line up today. If over those exertions fully, he looks to be the biggest threat despite topweight and will not lack in assistance from Richie McClernon. Basford Ben is a three time previous course and distance winner who is a model of consistency. He has gone well fresh in the past and cannot be dismissed on what is his favourite track. 16:30 Carlisle Tomkevi looks to be a useful recruit to the Rebecca Menzies team and he has won his last two starts at Haydock and Catterick. The softer the ground the better for this French import and with Tony Kelly having won on him in the past, the combination have a lot going in their favour. They do have an absence of 267 days to overcome but this five year old has so far looked progressive and connections will be hopeful that he can continue on such an upward curve. Oldgrangewood represents the in form team of Dan and Harry Skelton. He flew through the mud when winning at Ayr earlier this year but this trip is an unknown for him. Like the selection Oldgrangewood is making his seasonal return today and it will be interesting to see what he can do in what is his first run since April. Traditional Dancer won an egg and spoon race at Kelso last time by no fewer than 18 lengths so is clearly on good terms with himself. This is a lot tougher this afternoon and he is as yet unproven on ground this soft. He may have to make do with a place only this time around. Tomkevi (E/W if 9/2+)
