PADDOCKS PATENT (THURSDAY)

15:50 Wolverhampton Starting today at the midlands track for a mile and a half three year old event. A field of eight maidens take on this handicap with a number of well bred type who should appreciate the step up in trip. The selection and favourite is Light Breaks, fourth last time out another step up in trip and the first time cheekpieces should bring about the necessary improvement. This Dylan Thomas gelding is a typical Sir Mark Prescott horse and has what looks a lenient mark.

Rock Heroine and Tocororo are the two main rivals in the market and have there chance. Rock Heroine has Southwell form and as a rule I don’t like to rely on that away from Southwell. Tocororo was very disappointing last time out but could bounce back here. I would wait and see if he does.

The biggest danger could come from Callendula who is consistent and has place form over this distance. He is fairly exposed in this field.

Light Break (WIN)

16:00 Hamilton

We head north for the second selection and a handicap over an extended nine furlongs. The favourite is top weight Eutropius who won last time out and carries mandatory penalty. He is only due to go up 2lb so is not well in. He could struggle from this new mark.

Push Me is a interesting contender, he was in good form this time 12 months ago. He will come on for his last run and could go close if able to build on it. Archie’s Advice and Another For Joe are another who would interest me, the later on collateral form should hold him. The selection is First Sitting, this former Dermot Weld in mate is very unexposed and on his second run for David O’Meara he finished second in a maiden that day in Thirsk and now makes his handicap debut. He could be well ahead of his 76 rating.

First Sitting (WIN)

18:00 Tipperary

Over the Premier County for the final race of the day for a sprint over the minimum distance. In Salutem is the favourite and is very consistent. He ran a good race eleven days ago to finish second behind Master Speaker on guineas weekend. He stumbled badly that day, but he usually finds one too good and hopefully that continues today. Kimbay was only a length behind him.She travelled really well that day may have just needed the run after a five month break. With natural improvement from that run she can continue her progression that was shown at Dundalk last year.

Joe Eile was an impressive winner last time out beating In Salutem, however raised seven for that he is back to a mark that saw him struggle last year.

Prince Connoisseur is another to consider but he may just need this.

Kimbay (E/W)
