17:40 Tramore We start, maybe a little bit unusually with a beginners chase over two miles, seven take to the field on the south coast of Ireland. Four of the field make there debut over fences today and they should be the ones to focus on. However Baccalaureate should not be underestimated. His trainer Eoin Doyle targets his local course and his runners should be feared but with a rating of 102, I would hope there is at least one better than that. Henry De Bromhead is having an excellent summer and with some big results at the Galway festival could have another progressive young chaser on his hand with Equity Swap. A couple of good runs over hurdles created an impression that fences will be the making off him and a timber rating of 116 should be improved on. Utmost Zeal has been entered in the sales and Gigginstown don’t usually send out any bright lights over the summer. The form of the Elliot yard is also questionable. Utmost Zeal will need to improve on his hurdle form to get close to the selection. The rest look also rans and really Equity Swap will take all the beating. Equity Swap (WIN)
18:25 Leopardstown Up to the Dublin track for a competitive handicap over six furlongs. Captain Power of Eddie Lynam is the early favourite and must carry top weight and a winners penalty to record a hat trick. He beat Ishebayorgrey last week over course and distance. The latter has been really holding his form well. The handicapper may have him although I fully expect him to be involved. Captain Power is not favoured at the weights and will struggle to uphold the form. Anyone who follows me on Twitter will know my feelings on Oor Jock, who continues to look well in and is drawn well again, however he keeps finding one too good and this trip may be a bit sharp now aged seven. He will win eventually, hopefully however it is not today. The selection is Pretty Famous. This Invincible Spirit filly showed little in defeat in three maidens at two, but sprung into action on last time out when finishing a promising second after been slow away. Chris Hayes is now on board and hopefully she will build on that promise from the last day with a good draw and become a maiden no more! Pretty Famous (E/W if 9/2+)
18:40 Tramore A run of the mill maiden hurdle is were we finish, St Peters Square is the current tissue favourite and comes from the aforementioned Eoin Doyle. A rating of 100 may be enough to take this event, but he doesn’t look the most straight forward. His most recent run behind Modem at Killarney has been well franked by the winner and third but, he is a little exposed for my liking. Crown Pleasure is less exposed and has Andrew Lynch booked. If taking another step forward he should go close. Annadiamond has a similar profile and in fact beat Crown Pleasure on the flat comfortably. She won recently on the flat with Cheekpeices on, they have been taken off but her hurdle form reads well. Albeit beaten 41L by Bachasson at Galway, that horse looks set for the top. She was must closer first time out she ran well against Copy That finishing second. A reproduction on that form could be good enough in this race. Annadiamond (E/W if 9/2+)
