17:10 Tipperary Tipperary has an excellent card this evening with some top prize money up for grabs. We start with a Nursery event over a just under a mile. Jefferson Davis is the market leader and has landed the plum draw in six. He won a nursery on handicap début last week in Killarney but will need to overcome a five pound penalty here in a much better contest. Kevin Prendergast horse finished well behind Whiskey Sour on his last maiden run and should struggle to overcome his penalty. Whiskey Sour won a race at Galway beating a Weld hotpot. That horse let the form down in York with a below par run and doesn’t look overly well treated. Taisce Naisiunta and Fit For Function are both well exposed but have been holding there form well enough to be involved but I would be disappointed if there wasn’t something with more improvement. Tonkinese is the selection, he finished third behind subsequent Group One winner Air Force Blue and then went on to land the odds in a Naas maiden. Thought good enough to go off a 4/1 favourite for the Chesham at Royal Ascot and was still there pitching before been badly hampered. Back down significantly in class, he should run a big race from top weight. Tonkinese (WIN)
17:40 Tipperary A vintage renewal of this fillies group three contest and Tested returns to try and win this race for a second time. She was unlucky last time out when just getting nabbed on the line by the reposing Lavinad. She has another good chance but will need to overcome a five pound penalty to some good three year old. Newsletter needs soft ground and won a listed contest at Nottingham. Since then she hasn’t got in front but race some good races in defeat. Her group three run behind the current favourite for this contest Ainippe. This extended trip will stretch her stamina and might just catch her out. The Ger Lyons horse Ainippe is in cracking form with two group three wins. However with the ground currently good to yielding and some more rain forecast, the trainer has put out warning signals as to her participation. She will also need to improve again. The selection is a horse I have been following all year without getting the results. Military Angel, she blew up in the Irish Guineas but forgiving that run and her form is solid. She finished second on her last two starts. Not quite getting there over seven and not quite staying the extended mile. A try at this seven and a half furlong trip could be the key. While on ratings she has a bi to find but the run last time ahead of Easter puts her right in here and Military Angel looks overpriced. Military Angel (E/W)
19:10 Tipperary A competitive looking nine furlong contest on first viewing, but on closer inspection Aimhirgin Lass looks thrown in. Beaten comfortably on her first start behind subsequent listed winner Eshera. The Pivitol filly then went on to win by a short head on her next start. Won more comfortably than the margin suggested. Another step up in trip should bring some more improvement. She is in here off a mark of 79 which does look lenient and has a massive chance. Dermot Weld always needs to be respected and has a handicap débutante here but his form doesn’t look the strongest and I would like to see some improvement and market support. War Anthem finished third twice over the Galway festival, he has each way claims again but was never nearer. Also while Seamie Heffernan is a positive, he is effectively running off an eleven pound higher mark. Bribe the Bouncer is another with a chance but Aimhirgin Lass looks to be a high class horse and appear better than 79 and can win for the President of Ireland. Aimhirgin Lass (WIN)
