The Hamdan Al Maktoum three-year-old returned to the promise of its debut run when scoring narrowly in a maiden at Salisbury last time out.
The horse looked better the further it went that day so the step up to 1m on his handicap debut looks perfect.
Paul Hanagan makes the trip north for his gaffer to take his place in the saddle and his record around Ayr stands up to most.
Any Kevin Ryan horse at Ayr is always one to be wary of, and Trail Blaze will be no different. Hold up tactics looked to contribute to a poor run last time and a return to more prominent racing will see it cause some problems for the selection based on his earlier win at Carlisle.
David O’Meara is a miracle worker when it comes to rejuvenating out of sorts horses and he may be able to work the oracle over Shahdaroba here. The horse has been poor since an early season win, but better run last time suggests a return to form isn’t too far away.
Khareer (WIN)
14:25 Ayr
The step up in trip proved key for this John Quinn trained 3yo filly as he won a tricky Beverley handicap in style. SHe looked like he would be suited by another furlong that day which she gets here and so looks like a big run is certain. The acquisition of the excellent Shane Gray for the ride is also a major coup for a stable who know how to win at the Scottish track. With only four runs under her belt, more progression seems on the cards here and so she is the confident pick.
The main danger will come from another unexposed filly, this time from local trainer Keith Dalgleish. Maleficient Queen has also progressed with every run so far after two excellent wins to follow up a promising debut. Handicapper will catch up eventually and has a penalty to carry here for first try at 1m 2f.
Dalmorella Dancer has enjoyed a super season so far with two wins and two placed efforts already. Karl Burke’s four year old has to, however, bounce back from a poor run last time, but the claim of jockey Jordan Vaughan will help.
Our Time Will Come (E/W if 9/2+)
16:00 Ayr
Alan Berry’s horse I’ll Be Good looked one to follow after impressively scoring from the front at Chester last time out where he overcame the worst draw.
The penalty makes life more difficult but Jack Garritty’s three pound claim will help.
The horse is in the form of its life after a number of good efforts and hard luck stories so this flatter track should lead to a big run.
The danger may come from course specialist Rock Canyon who enjoyed back to back wins here earlier on in the season. Form has been in and out lately, but luckless run last time should be excused.
Ortack Rock lines up for the Northern juggernaut of the Richard Fahey yard and it is eye catching to see former stable jockey Paul Hanagan take over in the saddle here. Repeat of recent good run at Carlisle would see him go close.
