PADDOCKS PATENT (THURSDAY)

13:00 Exeter Rocklander continues to go from strength to strength as he bids for a hattrick of wins this afternoon. Tom George has him in excellent form and although he takes another seven pound rise in the handicap he is certainly one an upward curve. His only two career wins have come at Chepstow and Leicester so a flat track such as Exeter should be exactly what he requires. The further he went last time the better he looked and with Adrian Heslington back in the plate the duo will be a tough combination to beat. Lord Of The Land won when we last saw him three weeks ago. That was his first start in almost seven months so with him extremely likely to have benefitted from that outing he has to rank highly on any shortlist this afternoon. Space Oddity had a progressive profile last season and was far from disgraced first time out behind Remiluc over a much shorter distance. These extra few furlongs could prove to be the making of him and he too commands respect. Rocklander (WIN)

13:10 Towcester Ultimate Dream has only had a handful of starts for Jonjo O’Neill but he seems to be learning his trade race by race. Killian Moore takes the reins for the third time and his three pound claim will invaluable as the race progresses. The increase in distance has seen him fare better and he should be fully at home on this surface. He gets weight from all bar one rival and in a race where many have questions to answer, he could prove a tough nut to crack especially with his stable in such fine form. Amberjam was victorious when last seen but that was a little over two years ago. He has subsequently moved to the yard of Oliver Sherwood and this unexposed six year old could well be anything. Leighton Aspall does know him though having ridden him in the past so if fully over whatever has kept him off the track, he is certainly one to be wary of. The Lion Man showed a bit more life when he finished fourth over this course and distance last month. Charlie Poste keeps the ride and a similar effort may well see them go close. 14:10 Towcester Clondaw Bisto has plenty of experience coming into this race and to date he has proved to be a model of consistency. Two good runs at Plumpton last season saw him finish first and second when travelling over an extended two miles. On his first start this season he was upped to two miles and three furlongs and he was only beaten a couple of lengths in the end. Tom O’Brien is back in the saddle replacing Tom Cannon and the duo look likely to go well yet again with another slight step up in trip looking sure to suit. Thomas Shelby is likely to prove a massive threat as he comes from the in form yard of Alan King. The five year old was only just touched off over the course and distance last time and that was his first run in just over eight months. With the cobwebs now fully blown away he is likely to strip an lot fitter for that run. Wayne Hutchinson also rides for the third time and he will know plenty about his mount. Another Venture found one too good when making his debut under rules at Ludlow last time. The ground might not be soft enough for this son of Stowaway but he could well be playing for place money yet again. Clondaw Bisto (WIN)
