PADDOCKS PATENT (MONDAY)

14:00 Ayr

Anabel was an unconsidered 25/1 shot when making her debut at Glorious Goodwood just eleven days ago. She made significant headway as the race progressed and only just failed to peg back the well regarded Notary. The front two pulled more than two lengths clear of her more fancied stablemate Tholen who had several previous runs going into the contest. She has every right to come on for that first run and Joe Fanning is likely to know a lot more about her this afternoon.

Forever A Lady fluffed her lines on her debut when missing the break at Ripon. The cogs finally began to turn in the closing stages and she was only beaten three lengths in the end. Like the selection she too will benefit from the experience and much better will be expected today. Richard Fahey trained the first two home in that same race and he sends Zaina Rizeena into battle. She is likely to have been well schooled at home and is likely to be very much in the thick of the action.

Mark Johnston has his stable firing on all cylinders at present though and if Anabel takes a natural step forward she ought to take the world of beating this afternoon.

Jolly Red Jeanz is beginning to look like a well handicapped type and he has the apprentice find of the season on board for the first time today. Edward Greatrex is able to take five pounds off his partner’s back and from their low draw they should be able to put in a fairly determined effort. The form of his last race is working out well as the likes of Classic Pursuit and Swendab have both come out to frank the form subsequently.

Silvala Dance won over this course and distance two starts back. She followed up that win with hard earned victory at Leicester next time when rattling home to nail Toni’s A Star right on the line. Samuel Clarke knows her inside out and the pair will not go down without a scrap. They once again have ideal conditions and they look the biggest threat. Reginald Claude is better known as a consistent performer on the all weather tracks. He has managed a win over this course and distance in the past, but unless some rain arrives he may have to make do with a place instead.

With the yard springing somewhat of a surprise with their 33/1 winner at Lingfield on Friday, it could be that the the Loughnane team have turned a corner and Jolly Red Jeanz has to be of interest here.

Flicka’s Boy looks a massive price given that he had looked progressive prior to his last run at York. These are his optimum conditions and Barry McHugh is back in the plate this evening. This three year old son of Paco Boy has beaten several of these before including Clouds Rest and Olivia Fallow and if fully over his exertions last time out, he is taken to confirm that form.

Savannah Beau has been a model of consistency all year and he beat Flicka’s Boy at York quite comfortably a fortnight ago. He is three pounds worse off with the selection this time around but he remains in good heart and rates as a danger. Uptight is another that ran in the York race. He does stay further than this and he too will relish the fast ground. Paul Mulrennan keeps the ride on the Kevin Ryan runner and the combination command utmost respect.

Tony Coyle is enjoying something of a purple patch at present and he has sent out three winners in as many weeks from his small yard. He will hopefully have found out what inconvenienced Flicka’s Boy in that last race where he shifted dramatically left in the closing stages. If that is the case he is worth another chance each way particularly if allowed to go off at a double figure price.
