Broome Lane is an interesting runner on her first start for Tim Vaughan. She has been placed in a couple of recent point to points and now makes her chasing debut for the yard. Sue Johnston used to train this seven year old mare and it is of notable interest that her son Richard (Champion jockey elect) is booked to ride. They will surely want a decent start to this ones chasing career and in truth this looks to be a decent opportunity.

Glendermot has finished runner up on his last three outings including when chasing home The reopposing Cheat The Cheater over this course and distance last month. He travelled so strongly into contention but ultimately found little off the bridle and downed tools far too easily. Danny Cook will be all to aware of that and different tactics may be deployed this time around. Cheat The Cheater looked in the grip of the handicapper when only finishing fourth at Hexham last time. He may struggle to give weight away to lesser exposed rivals this afternoon. Midnight Jade could well serve up the biggest threat to the selection. The seven year old mare made a winning chase debut at Southwell last time and may well have more to offer.

Broome Lane receives weight from all bar one rival this afternoon and she may well improve for going back under rules. The Vaughan yard have sent out three winners in the last couple of weeks and it wouldn’t be the biggest of surprises if this mare gave them another.

Batavir wasn’t entirely suited by the track at Ffos Las a fortnight ago but still ran with credit despite getting beaten eleven lengths by Driftashore. He was doing all of his best work in the closing stages and there ought to be more to come. David Pipe has his team in much better form now and with Michael Heard replacing Conor O’Farrell in the saddle his five pound claim could well prove vital to his mount’s chances.

Present Man is still only lightly raced and wasn’t beaten far last time when runner up to Minellacelebration at Taunton. Paul Nicholls has a healthy thirty percent strike rate  at Wincanton and with Sam Twiston Davies once again on board, the six year old looks a massive danger. First time cheekpieces worked the oracle for Who’s Micky Brown at Fakenham just seven days ago. He romped home by a wide margin on that occasion but this opposition looks an awful lot tougher. Neil Mulholland wouldn’t risk him if he wasn’t fit and he too commands utmost respect.

Batavir has been sent off favourite in much classier events than this throughout the winter months though and failed to live up to the hype. It could well be that this is his true level and he should prove a formidable opponent.

Gin And Tonic proved his Fakenham running in March to be all wrong when coasting to victory over the same course and distance just last week. He is usually an admirably consistent sort and despite a seven pound penalty for that recent success, he is still very much shortlist material here. Jack Quinlan replaces Ryan Hatch In the saddle but he has won on the six year old twice before and this two mile trip is ideal.

Having beaten the selection comfortably in that aforementioned earlier March race, Instant Karma is an obvious contender here. He was a decent sort on the flat winning at distances of up to a mile and a quarter at tracks including Pontefract and Windsor. Michael Bell will have liked what he saw with the style of this ones manner of victory last time and there could be any amount of improvement to come. Eddiemaurice has been making the frame in recent outings and gets blinkers fitted for the first time today. John and Rhys Flint are a combination to stay on the right side of and this five year old also has place prospects.

Gin and Tonic has won on both good and soft ground in the past, so today’s conditions ought not to be an issue. If turning up here in a similar mood to last time, he may well reverse the recent form with Instant Karma. Unlike a few of these he is battle hardened and should produce another fine effort.
