Uncle Dermot has plenty of decent form on soft ground and he is a previous course and distance here at Windsor. A recent run at Redcar should have freshened him up nicely and it would not be the biggest of surprises to see him go well here for Brendan Powell and Fran Berry. He is stil well handicapped on the best of his old form and the eight year old is experienced enough to put in another bold effort.

Shifting Star is somewhat of a course specialist but he has never won on ground this testing. William Carson gets on well with the John Bridger horse and like the selection, they will have cleared away any cobwebs with their recent pipe opener. His experience at this track will stand him in good stead though and he has solid each way claims. Double Czech has never won following such a long lay off nor away from his beloved Chepstow. David Probert is the only jockey to have won on him in the past however and he is back on again today. If fit enough to do themselves justice, they could pose the biggest threat to Uncle Dermot.

In what look a wide open contest it could well pay to stick with a tough and battle hardened type. Uncle Dermot certainly knows where the winning post is and he looks to have his optimum conditions in order to make the frame here.

Abushamah is the only course and distance winner in this field and he was clearly in need of the run on his seasonal return a fortnight ago. James Sullivan has partnered this five year old in all bar one start since he joined Ruth Carr so he knows all about this son of Nayef. Unlike the rest of his rivals in this line up he comes here in peak shape having blown the cobwebs away last time and at a double figure price he looks excellent each way value.

Mystic Miraaj won on soft ground at Newcastle last season and sneaks in here off bottom weight. As a four year old he ought to still have plenty to offer and on a track that the Easterby’s have done well at throughout the years he looks the obvious danger in first time cheekpieces. Richard Fahey runs both Imshivalla and Miss Van Gogh and George Chaloner prefers the former. She has never shown anything first time out in the past so she is overlooked this afternoon. Miss Van Gogh is also likely to need the run following a lengthy lay off but has a progressive profile and is best watched today.

Abushamah must know every blade of grass on this track since arriving with Ruth Carr and she would be hopeful that he can catch a few off their guard. She does well with the limited string that she has and it would be of little surprise to see him outrun his odds.

Heezararity came back to somewhere near his best at Lingfield last month when seeing off the likes of I’m Harry and Moonday Sun. it looked a moderate race at the time but the form has been franked by Moonday Sun since and there should be more to come. Jimmy Fortune has won on him twice in the past including last time and it is of note that he is back in the saddle once again.

Top Diktat is becoming dangerously well handicapped and is a previous course and distance winner. He handles soft ground and represents a top local yard so has to command respect with George Baker on board. Niblawi is still a maiden after seven career starts but he showed promise in quite a few races last season and ran well at the fist time of asking. If fully wound up by Ishmail Mohammed, he wouldn’t be without a chance.

Heezararity won this race a couple of years ago on similar ground and a near identical handicap mark. With fitness on his side he has to rank highly on any shortlist this afternoon and he looks set to go well.
