PADDOCKS PATENT (MONDAY)

Banksea ran a race packed with potential on his seasonal reappearance at Ascot just over a fortnight ago. Always prominent, his lack of fitness eventually told when he was mugged by Taurean Star. With that run under his belt, much better can be expected this afternoon and it would be of little surprise if he were to go onto much better things in the future. Ryan Moore is a notable jockey booking by Luca Cumani and he could well make all the difference in this handicap.

Mutawaaly was well backed on his seasonal debut at Newmarket but he flattered to deceive as he only managed to finish fifth on ground that was probably too soft for him. Despite top weight here, he is fully entitled to come on for that outing and he looks to be the biggest potential threat to the selection. Grapevine made most of the running when winning at Windsor last time. A two pound penalty does not look the harshest of punishments and he could make the frame yet again.

The form of the Cumani yard could be better but this three year old son of Lawman is open to any amount of potential improvement. He can make the most if the weight he receives from the Roger Varian runner to grab a second career success.

BANKSEA (WIN)

18:45 Windsor

Frozen Force seems to be getting better with experience and recorded a second career success when going in at Brighton a few weeks ago. The three year old seems to have improved since being upped to this one mile trip and he has made the frame in three out of his last four races. Always prominent in that race at Brighton under Pat Dobbs, the pair kicked for home just at the right time, nailing a well fancied Mark Johnston right on the line.

London Glory made most of the running when decimating his rivals at Lingfield last time. That win will certainly have boosted his confidence and if transferring that raw ability onto the turf, he may well carry on improving and they have solid claims here. Clive Cox likes nothing better than to have a  winner at Windsor as proven in recent weeks. He once again teams up with Adam Kirby and Beauty Night also commands respect. He beat Frozen Force at Lingfield back in April and connections will be confident that he can confirm the form. His form on turf has yet to result in a win though and that has to be somewhat off-putting for punters.

Amanda Perrett rarely comes this far south just to take in the scenery. The booking of Jim Crowley also catches the eye as the combination of trainer and jockey has resulted in healthy profits over the years. Frozen Force may be carrying four pounds extra here than when winning at Brighton last time, but that is unlikely to hinder the three year old who can go close yet again.

FROZEN FORCE (E/W if 9/2+)

19:15 Windsor

Baccarat should arrive here in peak physical condition having been kept busy throughout the winter months and into the spring. A win in Dubai earlier in the year was his first success in almost eighteen months and he has proved that it was no fluke by getting to within a length of Don’t Touch at Haydock last time. James Doyle replaces Philip Makin in the saddle and the combination have to command respect for a very much in form yard.

The Tin Man was highly progressive last season and notched up three wins in just five starts. Tom Queally was on board for all of those runs and he once again takes the reins this evening. The better the ground, the better his chances appear to be and he looks a massive threat if the rain stays away. Watchable finished just in behind Baccarat at Haydock in that previous race. With the O’Meara team in excellent shape, this six year old is another for any shortlist and has place prospects once again.

With Baccarat having a fitness edge over the likes of both The Tin Man and Strathburn, he could well have his moment of glory this evening. They may well prove better prospects as the season progresses, but this lightly raced seven year old may well have the last laugh tonight.
