You wouldn’t want to get over-excited about Baltic Brave but he holds every chance for the in form Morrison yard and Ryan Moore has a fine record on him (1123) Maybe a touch disappointing when beaten into 3rd at Lingfield the last day he wouldn’t want them to go a crawl here but he looks to have a favourites chance and is taken to nail them late on. Good Luck Charm won off this mark over course and distance in 2014 and arrives here in good heart, having won at Brighton the last day. Today is tougher for the Moore horse but he is a major contender and he looks the most likely to take advantage of any mishap from the favourite. Harlequin Striker looks a good thing to lead and could take some pegging back, jockey Charles Bishop has won three times on him and this track gives him outstanding place claims. Dutch Art Dealer is another with chances though he has a bit to find with the jolly, of the outsiders Live Dangerously would want serious respect if attracting market support (Currently 20’s) as this sort of track is right up his street.

This looks rough but as usual for me we have a speculative selection and Lorimer’s Lot fills that role nicely. A winner over this course and distance he has proven his effectiveness around here without doubt and has finished 2nd three times. On a workable mark it would have been preferable had he arrived here on the back of a run but he is well drawn and has gone well fresh before. Promising 5lbs claimer Andrew McNamara will need to be at his best to thread the needle but he is trusted to find the gaps and can earn us some place money. Give Us A Belle would thump these on the artificial surfaces, this is easier than his recent 3rd at Nottingham however and a repeat may well suffice. Lizzies Dream is another who looks better on the AW, he is a proven winner however and deserves respect despite the tricky draw. Compton River has failed to win in 20 starts and has finished behind Lizzies Dream the last twice, despite being closely match the 1 point difference in the betting is hard to digest and others are preferred.

This looks to have been the aim for last seasons winner Kingsgate Native as he has followed the same route this time around. A grand old servant he hides nothing from nobody but he will have this run to suit and is massively respected. Take Cover finished in front of Kingsgate Native when running with credit at Newmarket the last day, he had a fitness edge over that rival that day however and isn’t guaranteed to uphold the form. Double Up progressed well in handicaps last term and looks sure to be popular in this grade. Versatile on the ground he is a big player and again, he should have this run to suit. Cotai Glory is smart and hails from an in form yard, the forecast rain would be a major negative against him however and he could only be respected as such. Encore d’Or is in great heart and couldn’t be in better hands, he is respected but old timer Kingsgate Native gets the vote and can reach at least a place for us.
