17:55 Wolverhampton For today’s selections we head to Wolverhampton and our first selection runs in the 17:55. A conditions stakes for fillies, Ran over an extended seven furlongs. Majeyda looks a class apart here. Following on from a very successful 2 year old campaign she has been tried at the highest level this year. If reproducing the level of form shown as when contesting group races this season she will be very hard to beat. Adam Kirby has a great record for Godolphin and when riding the 3 year olds he has a 38% strike rate. With everything pointing in her favour here, including a return to a more forgiving surface. Majeyda is our first selection of the afternoon. Main Danger to the selection is the consistent Penny Drops. Always giving her all she has just failed to win on several occasions. The addition of blinkers could improve her and may be the key to getting her head in front. Majeyda (WIN)
18:55 Wolverhampton The 18:55 is our next race. The second division of a class 5 contest ran again over the extended seven furlongs. Flicksta is our selection here. John Ryan has trained this horse for his last 3 runs since returning to action in November. Placed at the track on his penultimate start he showed improvement for the step up in trip when finishing third then going one better last time when finishing a close second at Kempton over this trip. The return to Tapeta is a positive and if jockey Jack Mitchell can find a clear passage Flicksta could well land that elusive first win. Khajaaly is an interesting contender. Headgear combinations are often swapped around and today see’s the return of the tongue tie and cheek-pieces. A rare outing without any last time saw him finish a respectable fourth and with Alistair Rawlinson taking a valuable 5lbs off he looks to have a great each way shout and would be main danger to the selection especially if there is market support. Artistic Queen is an unexposed runner who looked unlucky last time when hampered just over a furlong out a clearer passage would put her in the mix here. Flicksta (WIN)
19:25 Wolverhampton The final selection can be found in the final race on Wolverhampton’s card. A Class 3 Handicap ran over eight and a half furlongs. Moonday Sun is having his first run for his new stable since leaving Amanda Perrett’s just a few days ago. Down to what appears to be a very handy mark based on his runs this year. Seemingly he handles most types of ground as well as putting in decent efforts on both Polytrack. Today’s surface, in my opinion, will suit Moonday Sun, if able to hit the front around 2 furlongs from home he will be very hard to pass. Lacan could improve for the switch to Tapeta. Progressing well earlier in the season he hasn’t been able to make an impact since stepping up in class. Today’s race represents a slight ease in class, and the return to this trip should see him in a better light. Kingscroft is the main danger. A hardened handicapper who ran well over course and distance recently, the assistance of Graham Lee will only help the 6 year old gelding who represents a very shrewd stable. Any market support should be noted. Moonday Sun (E/W)
