PADDOCKS PATENT (FRIDAY)

13:00 Lingfield The first selection of the day runs in the 13:00 Lingfield. A Handicap ran over one mile four furlongs. Planetoid heads the market, trained by Jim Best and ridden to victory over course and distance last time out under today’s rider William Twiston-Davies. That event was an Apprentice race and todays contest should be a lot tougher, although there was a lot to like in the way he quickened up the rail to grab the win by a head. The blinkers were added for the 1st time on that occasion, and with the headgear retained he looks to have a great chance of scoring once again. The selection here however will be the George Baker trained Loving Your Work. Running here of a handy mark based on his Newbury win in June of an official rating of 66, he returns here off 65 and having performed well at his only visit here a big run looks to be on the cards. His run at Windsor can be excused and the return to a faster surface should be in his favour and he should be able to finish in the money here. Takeitfromalady should be watched in the market.. Thomas Brown is a very capable Jockey who takes off a valuable 3lbs and it wouldn’t surprise to see him in the shake-up. Loving Your Work (E/W)

14:40 Lingfield Our second selection runs in the 14:40 Lingfield. A six furlong Handicap. Novellen Lad is the choice here. Showing signs of a revival last time when second over course and distance. Held up at the back of the field he came widest of all and just failed to win, passing everything bar the enterprisingly ridden winner. Today he reunites with Robert Winston who has rode him on two of the three occasions he has won here. Clearly he loves this track and based on previous form he should be able to return to winning ways here. Market confidence from a very shrewd stable would also be significant. Suitsus, winner last time over this trip here where he finally shed his maiden status, although he has failed to get his head in front in handicaps he does appear to like the surface and it would be no surprise to see him finish in the first three. Tychaios represents another shrewd yard and the market should provide more clues, although he has been running well at Kempton he has also been steadily creeping up the weights Novellen Lad (WIN)

15:10 Lingfield The final selection runs in Lingfield’s penultimate contest the 15:10, A Handicap ran over a mile. Dianora ran well at Wolverhampton last time.  He kicked for home before being headed in the final furlong, the visor is kept on again and with a slight drop in trip could be hard to pass in the latter stages.  To me Wolverhampton is a far easier track to win from the front and he is unlikely to get an easy lead here. Until Midnight. Ridden by Robert Tart, and trained by Eugene Stanford. Returning from a break last time at Kempton he stayed on well in the final stages, and if given an extra 200 yards may well have got up to win. Hes got that extra distance here today and, with a recent run under his belt, he could well take advantage of a cut throat pace upfront if one emerges. He looks adaptable regarding tactics and that could be the key to taking advantage of this field. The selection here will be Club House trained by Robert Mills. Down to a winnable mark and with 6 career wins all coming at this track puts him firmly in the mix. His hold up style should suit this field and with 4 of those 6 wins coming off this mark of higher he surely has to be given an each way shout. And with questions over many of today’s rivals Club House’s consistency here is hard to ignore. Club House (E/W)
