It may seem scandalous siding with a horse who’s only beaten 10 of his 73 rivals and hasn’t finished in the first half in any of her last six races yet here I am, doing just that!
Mums Tipple had a woeful end to her season last term and on paper, finishing sixth of nine at Lingfield last time doesn’t look great. However it’s all about the context as opposed to the bare finishing spot. He travelled well last time out and found multiple traffic problems in the closing stages. He showed he had plenty left in the tank but the finishing line came too soon and he couldn’t make a dent on the main protagonists.
Ryan Moore is happy to climb aboard once again, he now lines up in what looks a less competitive race and if the step up in trip helps, which I think it will, then I’m all aboard the Hannon horse.
Both Highland Dress and Documenting have been ultra consistent of late and shouldn’t be far away however Documenting takes a step up in class and although second in this race last year has a mixed bag of form at Wolverhampton. The aforementioned Highland Dress seems to be on an upward curve but has questions to answer now making their Tapeta debut.
Of the rest Shimmering Dawn has done very little wrong and if some of the more fancied runners falter she may well sneak a place.
