This will be one of the poorest novice stakes that we will see all year, that being said Highest Ambition has shown enough to think that he will be capable of winning a race. If he is ever to win a race then this today will be his best chance. His last two runs over C&D are far in advance of any of the form we have on offer in opposition. Last time out he finished fifth behind subsequent winners Bert Kibbler and the vastly improved Strong Power. On his previous run he was second to the 74 rated Show Me A Sunset. Light Of Thunder looks to be moderate and Ubahha would have to improve to beat Highest Ambition.

Al Suil Eile was well supported the night before his last run and he performed with credit after being slightly too keen to finish a close up third. Today he returns to the same C&D he won over in February last year and perhaps crucially he is 6lb lower. Martin Dwyer rides again as he did on his previous start and he has a good draw in stall two. He should go well if he settles better today. Likely to head the market is last time out winner Covert Mission but the form of that win has had a few knocks albeit he did it with authority.

Little form of note on offer in this low-grade handicap, with Major Gatsby the only one to placed last time out but he is starting to look exposed. Homebred Oscar Doodle has shown very little so far but was given tough assignments by his shrewd connections as a 2-y-o. He returns tonight after a two month break to make his handicap debut off a mark that may prove to be lenient. Joanna Mason takes the ride and is always a point of interest when she rides for her grandfather. His second start was promising on the soft ground at Redcar where he finished sixth and showed there may well be more ability tucked away, the last run looked like a run just to get his mark.
