A big field novice over 6 furlongs sees a mix of experienced runners and some interesting debutants, I will side with experience in the form of Lord Sam’s Castle. Iain Jardine’s Zoffany colt exceeded market expectations by finishing a close second at Hamilton, Jardine’s horses tend to come on a lot from their debuts and I'd fancy this colt to do the same. Prince Of Pillo is the most interesting of the newcomers after being a relatively expensive breeze-up purchase (E38,000) and Keith Dalgliesh is always respected in races of this nature.

A weak classified stakes which see’s Alexandra Dunn run her recently Irish import Cailin Saoirse who ran fourth in a competitive handicap before heading across the Irish Sea. That run at Fairyhouse shows the filly should be capable of picking up a small race or two, she comes out best at the weights today due to the three-year-old allowance. Gun Dog gets the assistance of David Probert today after being apprentice ridden the last couple of times and he does come here in better form than most but he is now 0-11.
