MONDAY RACING TIPS

14:30 Southwell

Just the five runners compete for this handicap prize. Francisco Bay is having his first run after wind surgery but was grossly out of form both over hurdles and on the flat when last seen. He does have the form to get involved but I would like to a sign of a return to form before he is considered.

Glide Down is a maiden who has run some good races in defeat both on the flat and over obstacles. The drop in trip doesn’t appear to be the most obvious move for him though and for this reason it’s best to look elsewhere for win purposes.

This race looks an excellent chance for Lord Torranaga to get back into the winners enclosure. He has run some very nice races for Philip Kirby, including last time out at Beverley. He did pull a little in that race and given he settles better today over this shorter trip he holds the clear cut form to take this event under Hollie Doyle.

LORD TORRANAGA (WIN)

16:00 Ayr

This is a very interesting maiden handicap where only one of the six runners that go to post hold recent form. Royal Emerther had a pleasing comeback run on his first start after wind surgery finishing fourth and staying on well in that event. He will face very different conditions here today though to continue Karl Burke’s great start to the flat season and though respected, he’s taken on today.

Tadita Twitch has also had wind surgery and connections will be hoping that has a positive effect. She finished in the runner up spot three times in 2021 and she will need more today, especially as her best form was over six furlongs last term so although I think there will be a win with her somewhere this year, I don’t predict that today will be her day.

Madame Bonbon had four starts last year all over six furlongs and was unlucky not to get off the mark. This daughter of Iffraaj did not get her own way in several of those races and today it appears that she will get an uncontested lead. This seven furlong trip at Ayr looks ideal for her and this looks a really good opportunity for her to shed her maiden tag.
