MONDAY RACING TIPS

13:00 Hexham

Coolmoyne fell on his chase debut last month and it is taken on trust that this would have not have affected him negatively, however, he is still lightly raced and can do better in time but he may need more experience before he starts to benefit from his mark.

Choix Des Armes finally got off the mark over fences when dropped in trip last time out. He seemingly took well to conditions that day and has only been raised 4lb, however, it does appear that he will need to prove himself on a sounder surface with both his wins coming on heavy ground.

Shaw’s Cross has only had the three starts over fences and has also won twice on heavy ground but he ran really well last time out and time may show that the run behind Pride Of Lecale could turn out to be very nice form. He has been dropped a further 2lb and I’m taking him to get off the mark over fences at the fourth time of asking.

SHAW’S CROSS (WIN)

15:15 Hexham

High Moon is highly respected for this contest looking for his hat-trick stepping back into handicap company. Conditions should be fine for him but he may have to step up again on his last two runs in novice company if he is to land this contest and for that reason he is passed over today.

Hysterical Bere was quite well fancied for a Grade 3 contest last time out where he disappointed but this five-year-old is still to show his best form and takes a major step down in class for this race. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the step up in trip as well as it doesn’t look the most obvious move for him.

Easy Street is another unexposed type who has only contested the four races under rules. He has showed very well in three of those four starts and he finished quite gamely last time out and it may well be that this extra furlong may be just what he needs to defy his very workable handicap mark and give Sue Smith a winner here.
