MONDAY NIGHT SELECTIONS

15:55 Newcastle

It’s safe to say that jockey Hollie Doyle is having one of the best seasons in her career to date and has a few solid rides at Newcastle this evening including SCOFFLAW here. He raced in a Class 4 contest at Windsor last time and now drops back down to Class 6 which should help. He now finds himself 16lbs lower than his last winning mark and bring a front runner should relish being drawn in stall 1. It looks a very open race so I’m happy to side with one at a price.

MANSHOOD returns to the all-weather after a lacklustre turf season and back to the course and distance he showed his best latest effort. He finished second here in July off a 5lb higher mark. He has solid course form with one win and two seconds from five course starts. He looks the best of Paul Midgleys runners based on jockey bookings and at 11/1 he looks worth siding with.

At his best STRONG STEPS would dominate a race of this nature having won off a mark of 89 in a Class 3 race previously. He now finds himself lining up in a Class 6 contest off a mark of 58. Obviously at the age of eight he’s not the force he once was but he displayed enough when third at Ayr two starts back. He returns to seven furlongs which is a positive and any Jim Goldie trained runner here at Newcastle also deserves respect. If he’s anywhere near his best he’ll do much better than his price suggests.
