MONDAY FLAT RACING TIPS

14:25 Musselburgh

Kat’s Bob has returned from a short break in decent form, posting two solid second-placed efforts at Thirsk and Hamilton respectively, before going one better when upped in trip at Ayr last time out. A 2lbs rise moves him up from a class 6 to a class 5 but if the cheekpieces once again have the desired effect then he should be capable of another solid run.

Tommy G has a couple of wins under his belt here at Musselburgh but has to give weight away to all and also needs to shrug off a below par performance when last seen so it it Irish Dancer who looks to pose the biggest threat to our selection. Tristan Davidson’s runner is yet to get his head in front since joining the yard but has been running consistently well in defeat and perhaps deserves a change of luck.

KAT’S BOB (WIN)

15:00 Musselburgh

Roulston Scar is the clear early favourite and arrives here looking for his hat-trick following commanding victories in three-runner affairs in recent weeks, however with the majority of his turf victories coming on a faster surface than he will encounter today I am willing to take him on with Makanah who won this race off a 3lbs higher mark in soft ground last season and will find this an easier assignment than the Group 3 race he contested at Newbury when last seen.

Tarboosh was second in this race in 2018 and returned to land the spoils in 2019 although hasn’t really found any consistent form this season, while El Astronaute is always worth a second look over the minimum trip but has already raced four times at Musselburgh without success.

MAKANAH (WIN)

16:25 Yarmouth

Special Mayson has been holding his form well since returning from a short break, finishing a solid second over course and distance on return in a race that has produced a number of subsequent winners, before winning a little cosily at Catterick when last seen. A 2lbs rise looks more than fair and with both trainer and jockey in excellent recent form I would hope to see their runner in the winners enclosure again today.

Case Key has made the frame on five occasions here at Yarmouth, however is yet to record a victory at the venue and all career wins have come over shorter trips than he encounters today, so the biggest danger looks to be Cabrini whose recent form reads 3322 with the latest second coming over course and distance last month.
