14:25 Newmarket - July Stakes (Group 2)

The Roger Fell trained Eldrickjones is the favourite as I write, ran an absolute cracker at Royal Ascot when second in the Coventry Stakes at 66/1. He could easily have won that day if getting a clearer run. He has a big chance here and if trained by a bigger stable would be a shorter price. He could easily have gone and mopped up a maiden, but it is a measure of the regard connections have that he comes here instead.

Project Dance is another that also met trouble in running at Royal Ascot and was only beaten 1/4L in the Norfolk Stakes. The horse in second there Go Bears Go has since franked the form winning a Group 2 in Ireland, again this is strong form and it should see the horse go close.

Ebro River finished behind Eldrickjones when 5th in the Coventry. He may need more cut than he gets here and I don’t expect him to reverse the placings with the favourite.

The Organiser was just behind Ebro River at Ascot but went hard in front and the race set up for those coming from behind. He won't have as much competition for the lead here and can go well. Oisin Murphy has a 33% strike rate this year when riding for Joe Tuite so could go well at a bigger price.

Another that can go well at a big price is Lusail who won on debut before being beaten at Pontefract. He bounced back to winning ways over 7 furlongs here at Flat HQ. Trainer Richard Hannon has won this 5 times in 11 years and demands a tonne of respect.

The Market will revolve around the Royal Ascot horses of which I think Eldrickjones will come out on top but that does provide some value elsewhere. The manner of Aleezdancers wins have been impressive but I prefer Lusali given his trainers fabulous record in this race. He already has a Newmarket win and will be staying on strongly at the end having won over 7F
