INDIGO AIMS FOR PURPLE PATCH

14:40 Sandown

Maamora took victory in this race last year but might face a stiff task this year. She’s won four times over a mile on good ground and evidently has a good record at Sandown. However, as mentioned earlier, she faces a stiff task. She has to shoulder a larger weight than most in this race and hasn’t seemed to be in the same vein of form this year.

Potapova is an interesting competitor. She won her first two races for Sir Michael Stoute, who has an impeccable record in this race, winning it five times in the last twenty years. She was then uncharacteristically stepped up to Group One class at Royal Ascot. She still remains relatively unexposed and should go well but there are still questions to be asked.

Indigo Girl has the best form in this race, by far. She finished second in the Fillies’ Mile last year and had a whole host of talent behind her that day. From the Thousand Guineas winner Mother Earth to the scintillating Snowfall. She was disappointing on her seasonal bow at Ascot but had to defy a very long layoff and she ran rather green. You’d imagine that she would come on leaps and bounds for that run and should bounce back to her best.
