Caid Du Berlais is a high-class horse at this level his only defeats in the last couple of years have come in the Foxhunters at Cheltenham. He has won after long breaks before and can win here before going on to Cheltenham. His trainer Sam Loxton took over after the sad death of his wife Rose last year. He has had one runner so far under rules which resulted in a winner. Caid Du Berlais has the valuable assistance of Bryony Frost here. His main opposition here should be Dashing Perk trained by Dr Richard Newland. He has run some decent races under rules this winter at Aintreebefore being pulled up over 3m at Doncaster. He is better over todays trip of 2m4f. He is an interesting recruit to hunter chases, but he faces a very high class opponent at this level and I expect Caid Du Berlais to come out on top.
